Sundiata Kata has dedicated his musical career to bringing joy and the magic of music to the community’s children, youth, and adults. He first designed a healing music program for emotionally disturbed children at San Diego Center for Children in 1988 and since then has developed percussion programs for companies, hospitals, hospices, after-school programs, and service organizations. “The heart,” he says, “is the original drum that gives each of us natural musical ability. If your heart beats, you have rhythm!”

Sundiata Kata Productions is the business incarnation of San Diego legend Mr. Sundiata Kata. Sundiata, music & performing arts director at the San Diego Center for Children, is a well-loved musician and educator who helps people through the healing power of music. My daughter and I met Sundiata and his family, when they facilitated a drumming circle at a family camp we attended through a local hospice organization.
